This actually happened to me I have a windows 10 home edition. What I did was did the clean install and installed the newest/latest nvidia driver then updated windows. It detected that I already have the latest nvidia drivers for all nvidia stuff so it didnt update anything. After updating windows 10 I used O7Oshutup 10 to totally disable the windows update then used DDU to install the nvidia driver that I wanted. also disable telemetry from nvidia. Problem solved for me. Dont know if this helps or you understand me. Bad english. LOL. Another and better solution is get a windows 10 pro and disable it from the group policy by watching @Phoenix Clean install guide here in the forum. Hope this helps. ^_^

Maybe it's time to stop wasting time on Windows 10, and install the stable Windows 8.1/7, where you can still turn off *all* updates?

    3. Motherboard hardware

Just bought a HP notebook for my daughter, and the second I saw those horrible Tiles on the start menu, I wiped the HDD and installed Win 7, it looks so peaceful now... And runs circles around Win 10! ;)

You only bought 2 years worth of update after that malware will be lurking for you. I installed Windoze X and had no problem with my Nvidia driver problem.

Yet hear again failure to look you can make it look like Win7 on a Win10 system. I unpinned and removed the tiles and decreased the window tiles and it looks just like a Win7 Start Menu. Runs circles around you not Win10 for those not willing to research they failed themselves and the users since Win10 system no longer has supported Win7 drivers so it's going the rabbit hole that has no exit. Rather then learn and make it work to your configuration in Win10 as oppose to Win8 which was a disaster one opted for something that comes with Win10 of which no longer has manufacture support for older O/S version. The peace will end shorty in 2 years time.

That's great news, now you have a few years of peace and quiet.

Time to let MS / Nvidia / etc get their act together and stop the constant broken updates that waste so much time for everyone.

If MS is still messing up, you can move to Windows 8.1 and have a few more years of peace and quiet.

Hopefully MS will tie up the loose ends on Windows 10 at some point in the next few years, and a form of Windows 10 can be stable for use.

Why put up with all the time wasting work to get and keep Windows 10 running, let all those that can't quite figure their way out of that wet paper sack deal with it, and we can enjoy not wasting our time with Windows 10 :)

Ohh I know exactly how to remove Tiles and how to install Classic Shell and remove all kinds of telemetry from Win10. But why should I? When installing Win 7, I see an OS ready for some serious work and not playing Candy Crush on some tiles in the start menu. my 2 cents..

Guys, you've got to admit getting Windows 10 working, continuing to deal with the fallout from the updates, finding work-arounds and fixes over and over, it's just a big black hole of time suck when dealing with Windows 10, from the beginning through now - with little to no let up.

The tweaks and tools for turning things off don't work completely, you might think they do, but they don't. People are constantly complaining about getting updates even though they've turned them off. Is it getting reset by some accepted update? Is the tool not working right? Is the user changing something on their own that starts updates again?

It doesn't matter, what matters is that it's a huge waste of time for everyone. And, most people that use a computer don't care about the nuances of Systems Administration :)

If someone doesn't want to deal with Windows 10 - or just one more hack, fix, tool to get it to work right *this time*, then help them find a stable alternative like Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

Even if it only gives them a few years of respite from the MS messes, it's well worth it to them. And, a follow on from Windows 7 would be Windows 8.1, and then maybe by then MS will have a long term stable - no feature updates, just security fixes - version of Windows 10 that the vast majority of people will be happy with.

Then you all can ride the next development version of Windows, that adrenaline fueled train to hell and back, with daily service for your enjoyment.

Maybe Windows Creators Update 2.0 should be closed for more internal testing on HDD and SSD. Windows 10 is not good enough on HDD. Maybe they should update the minimum reqmt. page.

Not really, I think it will force MSFT to dedicate more time testing it on budget devices.

Just disconnect from the internet then they won't have to worry about it.

Since no one is there to see those user and their settings no one can verify anything here. Windows Update resets because it's their software not yours. Let's get his straight with Facts Microsoft own and can make changes since they own the rights the users bought the license to use it. This is their TOS like your smart phone. Users need to read up on the O/S and learn to configure it to their usage not doing so is no excuse. Those tweaks tool are not MS supported so to blame those tools for MS problem is being disingenuous at best.

Until they catch malware yeah keep saying those lines til that time comes. Most users forget the first account they created and use is the Admin/Owner and that is how they get infected. A little learning would go along way to stop infections.

When it has no manufacture support yea that is going to really help people....

Unfortunately those making this claim will not provide those going this route support....if you think MS will stop for you...think again.

Considering Win10 for better or worse will be more up to date then the now outdated 7 and 8.1 going forward that evidence can't be denied.

Otherwise best option which I use mainly. Disabled WU and BITS services. Every month I download offline updates and re-enable the services for updates to install and disable them back after installing.

Nah, Windows 10 Update is like Ebola - bleeding from the eyes.

Compared to Windows 7 / 8.1 Update, as a regular spoonful of fish oil - good for what ails you ;)

Without feature updates the gamble that a Windows 7/8.1 update will make your life miserable is very low.

With Windows 10 Update it's a disconcerting certainty. It's like, I better check to make sure I've got all my fingers and toes... "Hey, who turned out the lights!!", damn my display went black again!!
