    Okay, to start out I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and I have about 9 different "file" files located on my C:\ directory. I hate having them there but they look important. When I try to delete two of them I get a prompt asking me if I'm sure I want to delete them ( Which usually doesn't ask )...
    I'm stumped and want them gone I have OCD and every time I look I get kinda mad...

    Here are the names of the "file" files:
    {2D5BD2AF-4E8D-407B-B482-87679246C304}
    {7B9B232F-BD61-40EC-B018-EDE22F53A887}
    {9B11B0A5-B311-4ACC-AFAF-90362DF4F456}
    {751BEDC8-76C1-4F28-8A75-8D7574CEDD5C}
    {781D3404-A65D-49FD-99EA-1BDE811A8F11}
    {7416E0E0-9918-4EA2-93FA-4FA4DD4F423A}
    {469150E5-DF09-4F53-BACE-59DE9646925D}
    *last date modified ranges from 2/19/11 - 2/27/11

    Text document files:
    RHDSetup.txt
    setup.txt

    ( I believe the RHDSetup.txt has to do with Realtek HD Audio, but I'm just not sure if I can delete them with no harm to my laptop.)

    Not sure if this would be the right place to ask but I just Google'd a laptop forum and this popped up so I registered to ask.
    Any help is much appreciated! :D :)

    I could just hide them ( I have thought of that ) but I always have it to show hidden files. and no.. they are not hidden because they are not "dimmed" or what ever you would call it...

    What are the sizes of the folders and the contents?

    I think I've deleted a few in the past, but am not sure anymore.

    Open up the RHDsetup.txt and read it. Most likely some kind of log file from an update/install or somethn.

    If you have an imaging program create a full system backup first, then delete them.

    Oh, those are FILES. I misread and thought they were folders.

    Yeah, I'm sure that it's ok to delete them. Though I cannot fully guarantee my statement, because I don't know what they are. I do know that Open Office tosses a bunch of files into the root of whatever disc it's installed to that I had to manually delete.

    The reason why you're getting a permission to delete message (as opposed to a delete confirmation) is because it's in the root and UAC is protecting any action that's being taken there.

    Make a folder, move the files there, wait a month, then delete it. Sound safe enough? :p

    **This as been going on before I moved the files**
    Now.....
    I have a problem with my explorer.exe ( inside of task managers "Processes" tab, but that may be in another thread if it gets out of hand... Thanks for the help. Keep a look out for me if I do start having problems :p

    Well, ( again ) I'm not sure if its something to worry about. but when open task manager, some times my explorer will be processing at about 100,000 k+ (100MB I believe) of my RAM (3882 MB Usable). When ever I kill the process and start it back up it will be running at 24,984 ( At this moment and rising slowly ). I love gaming and I know my laptop is not the BEST for it but I need all the RAM I can get... I'm just worried because on my old desktop my step-brother downloaded a "fake" limewire program and got a Trojan that damaged the " explorer.exe " file and had to wipe my entire HDD. All though this is my personal laptop because of what had happened, I have NEVER try downloading it ( Limewire ). I guess you can say I'm kinda worried about it.
    ( I do have Kaspersky anti-virus and have it set to run a full scan every other day, and nothing has come up. )

    SOOOO.. My question is... Is there any way on getting my explorer.exe to stop rising in usage so much??
    I leave my laptop on almost 24/7 and I do not want to wake up one morning and find my RAM maxed out and my computer gets damaged. :eek2:
    -thanks
