Hey guys, I got this sound card from micloi some time back, and it's great! :) But I'm having some problems as of late....this happened twice so far. I have the sound card in as always and have the microphone or speaker jack inserted. But if I open winamp or itunes or any game, there's no sound output, not even the logging in sound of windows. However if I open the Creative control panel launcher software and test the speakers there I get to hear "Left Channel, Right Channel" properly. I'm getting really pissed off with this problem... as twice, I had to uninstall all Creative software, reinstall, and then update. And it takes hell long! I'm not doing it a third time now! Is this Vista related ? Guys, please help! Thank you!

    -Prasad.

Never mind. I uninstalled the card from Device Manager. Then removed and reinserted it. It got detected like it's new. Everything back to normal, the way it should be. :)

I would assume you get multiple output choices since you have more than one sound card present.

One the one in the notebook and one the xfi and you need to set windows or the program to use the xfi.

Same goes for when people use hdmi out, they commonly ask why they get no sound and its because they have to go into the sound control panel and manually select digital out.

I am looking at this card as well for my P-6831FX. The BIGGEST reason is there is a review on these forums where it shows you get increased (all though it's slight) performance in games.

Do you notice anything like this when it's running?

Not really dude. Both your laptop and mine is powerful enough to play most/all games except Crysis maxed out, so you won't notice a difference. Although theoretically it should help when you're playing games with audio on hardware acceleration. :) Not to mention you get higher volume and the sound quality is such that you just wont go back to onboard audio! :D
