I recently bought a laptop with a 17" screen and MediaDirect installed on it. I was using MediaDirect to watch DVDs, but every time I turn TrueTheater on, when I am watching a film in widescreen, it removes the black bars and stretches the picture vertically, distorting the image, even though the brightness and contrast is improved. I know there is a way to turn TrueTheater on without distorting the picture like this, as I managed to somehow do it before, but now it's gone back to doing it the original way. Can anyone please explain how I can watch a DVD in 16:9 ratio with TrueTheater on without removing the black bars? It's obviously something today with altering the settings so it doesn't stretch the picture to fit the screen, but I figure it out. Help with this would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me crazy!!!
Thank you.

In Display Settings, have the 16:9 Movie Display Type set to Letterbox? I'm on MD 3.5 if it makes any difference though.

No answers here but, I never saw any real advantage in having MD and dumped it. I've been collecting info on how to use the button to boot in Ubuntu but haven't tried it yet
Need help with Dell MediaDirect
