Ok, I just bought an easy transfer cable (Belkin) and installed Windows Easy Transfer on my old XP computer (already installed on new Vista laptop). So far everything is working fine. It's all compatible. The only problem is that I need to copy all my files (20 GB) onto the C drive on my Vista laptop but I can only move it FROM the D drive on my old XP PC because my C drive only has a 16GB capacity and I've used a lot of it up already.

My question being, is there any way I can either rename my D drive to C, format my C drive so that I have at least 20GB of space, or just choose which drive I want to transfer my files to on my new vista laptop?

    I'm really stuck here.

One thing I just thought of is that I could format my RECOVERY D (10GB) drive on my Vista laptop and temporarily change the capacity to about 30GB until all the files are transfered, then change it back after.

I'm assuming I can do this through the command prompt or something. Could anyone tell me how?

easy transfer is a crap shoot...it is far easier and flexible to create a small network and move things that way

You can use a switch or router and two cat5/6 cables or use a cross-over cable

    Much easier without any restrictions

Yeah that is just a cleavor ploy to make money, the cost of that cord is like 40$ when you can get a swich and some cat5 for like 15$ most people will already have the stuff to do it in there home anyway.
