    Need help. w7 instlization about hd

    Well i just bought this laptop.... i instaled windows 7 and before i did i made 2 discs.... c and i thought d...
    i splited 200gb and 300gb... when windows were instaled i had only 1 disc with 200 gb, the one with 300gb i made (splited one of 500gb) is nowhere to be exact ..... so any help?
    p.s. is fast emptying battery common term for notebooks? :D

    sounds a bit complicated!!!! Were the disks the recovery disks???

    How did you make the "disks" (actually the term is partitions)? If all you did was create the two partitions and didn't format them then the second one will NOT show up in Win7. At least not YET.

    Go to Control Panel and select "Administrative tools". From there select "Computer Management". Then in the left column select "Disk Management". In the right pane you should see a map of your hard drive. The 200 gb partition you created should be displayed as "Healthy". And the 300 GB will show up there too but as either unallocated or unformatted. If you right click on that section of the disk a menu of options should appear. If the partition was already created and just not formatted, then format it. If, on the other hand, the area shows up as unallocated, it means there is no partition created yet, so just select the option to create a partition from that menu.

    If you have trouble, post a reply here with a screen shot of the disk management window if possible.

    I think he is talking about having created two partitions and then installing the OS, on the first. See my reply above.

    This is likely the situation. The second one was unformatted.
