Zone Alarm Pro automatically updated and messed up my pc severely so I went to uninstall it and it was pointing to a non existing file in App Data. When I tried to delete Zone Alarm folder it kept telling me I needed more permissions even though I was system admin even in safe mode, I read on a seperate forum to rename the folder then try to delete it and I did and it worked and let me delete it. Now ZAP is gone because I deleted its folder and Your Uninstaller 08 removed its reg keys, but my finger print reader no longer works nor does my system restore. All the system restore points vanished and I need to revert back but I have no points anymore. Should I just reformat or use Dells Image Restore thing to revert back to how the laptop was when it left the factory? The Laptop boots up fine but it's just acting weird now.

Reformatting will probably be the best solution.

You could go about trying to fix, but it will still be bugging in you mind and possibly not get it back to normal.

It depends on how much hassle it would be to reformat. You can download the fingerprint reader software from here. Dell download

Is that the only thing not working?

The event log viewer thing built into windows (eventvwr.msc) wont let me view logs, when I open it, it errors but the viewer opns but if I try to go to the logs tab I get the error again. I think I should just either reformat or use dells image restore thing. A lot of windows services are acting weird, I don't use the laptop for work so I won't lose anything but some time readding the software on it except for Zone Alarm.

Do a System Restore using the restore point that you know it was working well.

Grab the drivers if they didn't give you a driver CD before you reformat. It'll save you some hassle.
