Hey guys, can anyone out there help me?

I only need the webcam for MSN

Something open source would be great... I used to use gaim... but its webcam doesn't work in v. 1.5

I just tried Miranda IM... but it didn't support webcam chat either.

This is driving me nuts... i know someone out there has to have created the perfect program i am looking for.

    Thanks

Mercury Messenger supposedly supports webcams. I haven't used it though.

    Edit, nevermind, its not multi-protocol.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any in existence. The only two clients that support msn webcam (that I could find), are mercury messenger, and amsn, both of which aren't multi-protocol.

hmm, i heard that with trillian, you need to pay for the pro version for webcam support. Anyone know about this... im looking on the website but cant seem to find where they state it is supported.

Im not really a fan of corporate software

I have been using trillian for a long time now and it is hands down the best multi-proto Or instant messenger Ive used.

I purchased the pro version to support the company and take advantage of a couple of the added features.

I think that is states here http://www.trillian.cc/faqs/ that you can Video chat with people on MSN messenger. (most likely with the pro version, but its only $25)

Also trillian is coming out with a new 4.0 version of trillian called trillian "astra" that will support a couple more clients and will have many more added features, so if you find it doesnt support it now, im positive they'll think to add it soon. ( http://www.trillianastra.com/ )

Yep Yep. Well the major competitor to Trillian is Maranda. Some people will argue on either side to which is better but imo Trillian has better features and better looking interface.

Not very resource hungry. Except if you have the little notifications enabled. Then it shoots up a bit while the notification is on screen. As soon as it goes away, it goes down to normal.
However, I'm using it on an old laptop, and I'm sure the newer ones handle it w/o even taking a breath.
