On Thursday, I copied Office 2003 on my flash drive in order to install on my X60s when I get home. I forgot to get the key from work. My wife needs office by tomorrow morning and I can't get to work before Sunday. Is there any way to buy the key online in a legit manner? Maybe somewhere where they sell office as a download and you get a key by email or something.

I don't need office, I only need a way to legally buy office 2003. Help please, at any cost

you can always install it as a 30 day trial...then pop in the key once you get it.

Or you could get OpenOffice for free, unless there is a really good reason why you need Office 2003.

Open Office is a free alternative to MS Office. It includes a bunch of software for an alternative to Word, Excel, Powerpoint... It's by no means as powerful as Office but it is compatible with .doc, .xls, .ppt just to let you know.

Use OpenOffice for the time being. Unless you need specific functions from Office 2k3, it should work out.

Why all these suggestions for Open Office as a temporary fix, when all he needs to do is go ahead and install MS Office. It will run for 30 days before it requires the activation key. He can retrieve his wife's key long before that. And she will have the software she is already used to. The last thing she needs in a crunch like this is a new piece of software to figure out.

OO doesn't exactly work like Office - in the sense that some formatting might be lost when you open them. Like for example, if you make a document in OO and open it in Word, you'll find that there are differences. Depending on how and what you used in the original document [fonts, bullet styles, layout, etc] the change can be big or small.

Just letting the OP know :p

[Hope my post wasn't too muddy; and yeah Gary has a valid point]

Hi, i was gonna start a new thread about product key for office xp. I got a copy of it the other day and installed it on my desk top and decided to put it onto my laptop too. But, i discovered that i am only allowed to put it on one machine.. AAAAAAAAAAGH !!! typical microsoft. i paid for that software, it should be mine to install on all the house pc's

But after reading this thread i am going to try open office, or parts of it. And see how i get on

Yes, that's the way it is. You may want to consider getting Office Student & Home Edition, which allows Office to be installed onto 3 PCs.

I thought all of the licenses for Office XP and Office 2007 allowed installation on one desktop and one mobile device. I am fairly certain that was instituted a few years ago. (And this was, from what I remember, NOT just the student and home edition.

I have a plan, if i like open office i could just install it on all the house computers (including the one that is running linux) and standardize the whole lot :D
i can still keep the 'office xp' on the main desktop for when it is required.

That's pretty much what I did...you set can OpenOffice to read and write MS Office format....great bang for the buck :D I now have Ofc 2007 on two machines though, but OO worked fine just not as much glitter.
