how do i stop a process from starting up like for example this one (SynTPHelper)

"Start" => type "Services" => double click to disable whatever you judge is right.
-
the thing is its not under services......
-
It could be starting from the registry RUN keys. Check these locations:
# HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
# HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If it's starting from there you can simply delete the appropriate key. -
do u think that process is necessary its from my touch pad......

Autoruns v9.5
The best startup programs / services utility ever! lightweight and easy to use.
All you need to do is run it, then go to LOGON, the uncheck the items you don't want to start up like javaupdate for example and others. then exit the application
DONE

i already used the auto run program its not their and its not under the registry which fountainhead provided as well.....

I dunno. Is there a reason you want to get rid of it? My guess is that it's not vital to the basic function of the touchpad, but may have something to do with any advanced touchpad features, like finger scrolling and that sort of stuff. But I certainly couldn'y say for certain.
If it concerns you, EXPORT the key (to your desktop) before deleting it. It'll create a REG file that you can simply double-click to restore if you wish. -
Go to START-->RUN, and type msconfig. Look through the various tabs there and see if you can locate it.

I found it but dont knoe how to disable heres a pic the one that highlighted:

Run msconfig and disable it.
-
already tried but it wasnt in their....
-
You have absolutely no Synaptics entries in your msconfig?
-
yeah i do but i dont wanna disable all the features of my touchpad just the help option......
-
It doesn't disable the functions, just the taskbar icon.
-
ok tried it that worked by the looks of it....
-
So it's not in the msconfig display under startup, it's not in your Startup folder in the Start Menu, and it's not in Services?
But you can see it running in Task Manager? -
Just disable the Synaptics entry in msconfig - as I said, it is just for the taskbar icon.
-
It's just the taskbar icon. I disable it on every Dell I own.
-
There is. It takes about 10 seconds to go through the settings and disable the icon.
-
its seems to have reappeared look:
