I will be taking an online mock exam, and would like to make a record of the every screen during the process so that I can revise the material afterward.

Can anyone suggest a free screen capture software which is user-friendly, easy to use, and allows me to still concentrate on my online exam? I googled for such software but not sure which is good. I'd like to get some recommendation from NBR members who has experience using one of these softwares and can recommend it.

    Thanks.

You can use the Snipping Tool if you are using Vista.

If you are using XP, you can Prnt Scrn and paste it to a photo editing program or to your Paint and then save the file.

Fastone Capture 5.3 (any version newer than that requires purchase).

Been using it for years.... has a great editor as well. Outputs to .png, .jpg, .gif, .pdf and a few others.

Are you using FireFox as browser? If yes, try Screengrab!, it's very good.

    http://www.screengrab.org/

You can capture by selection or capture what is not showing one the screen, for example a very long web page.

Thank you all for the recommendations. What I need is a simple application and nothing fancy.

I find that Screengrab works for me. Good thing is that it can capture the entire web page, and not just the full screen. This feature satisfies my needs. Also, it's a FF Add-on, so I don't have to start another application.

Gadwin is also a good one. It is simple and you can capture the screen with just one hit of a button. Unfortunately, it cannot capture the entire web page, and therefore cannot fully satisfy my current need.

I also tried Fraps but somehow I got a virus/trojan alert from Threatfire when I tried to use the application. I dare not take the risk and so I uninstalled the program afterwards.

No snipping tool as I'm using Windows XP.

I like Cropper on XP combined with Screengrab.

    Cropper is really lightweight.

Yes, I read about Camstudio but I currently don't need a video capture. I only need snapshots. Anyway, I downloaded Camstudio because I think it might be useful for me in the future. I played around Camstudio a little, but I found that the file size of the video capture is very large.

Have to remember, these programs are capturing raw video, so therefore its automatically huge. Just compress them to make them smaller.
