    Hello!
i know than clean install always better, but

situation: i have a laptop with windows 7 oem activation
and planning to buy laptop with win 8.1 oem.

idea is to swap hard drive from old notebook to new one (because older drive is better, and a lot of stuff to reinstall) and then made in place upgrade to wi8.1

    problems that i see:
1)windows 8.1 has different edition (volume ? and one more) with one i need to use?

2)how to restore win 8.1 activations after upgrade?
    any ideas are welcome!)

after some research i found that windows 8.1 can be Core and Single language Editions. and it can be viewed inside property window.

for a second questions, i found something that i can see my oem key inside bios.
but will knowing key enought for activation?
(windows 7 required key+sertificat for activation)
