Okay so I'm running into a few software problems with Windows 7 that I can't seem to solve. The first one was the ipconfig issue which I made a thread about in another section of this forum. I couldn't get a clear answer to that one (no biggie at all. I didn't think it would be an easy fix to begin with).

The 2nd issue is that I tried config Windows 7 to allow me to search within documents, pds, spreadsheets, etc within a folder yet for some reason that isn't working either. I went under "Organize" in Windows Explorer and then clicked on "Folder and search options". Went to Search tab and then selected "always search file names and contents"

Then I hit apply and then OK.

SO I went to a folder which has these pdfs and powerpoints from a class I'm taking. I was going to use the search function to look for stuff in my notes quickly and effectively as I was taking an online exam.

Well I wanted to try it out to make sure it would work right and so I opened up a pdf and I choose a very specific word from one of the slides. I typed it in search yet I didn't get any hits back. It didn't return the lecture that contained that word nor any other pdf or powerpoint that had it. But I KNOW that the word was within the file contents?

Is there something I did wrong or is search not meant to be used to look thru pdfs sand powerpoints?

Anyways my main issue is the ipconfig. When I was trying out 4G WiMax from Clear the guy had me do a bunch of stuff on my laptop that he said would make my connection and browsing speeds faster yet they didn't work. And now whenever I go to do ipconfig I get a million tunnel adapters. Theres other little stuff but that's the main issue. So at this point I just want to reinstall Windows 7. However if I've already activated it will that be a problem later on down the road? Do I need to call MS before I reinstall it? And what steps would you guys recommend I follow? Wipe out the partition of my hard drive that has Windows 7 and then reinstall from the boot menu?

No problems, no need to call MS.

You have unlimited amount of activations if you dont change hardware "too much" between installations. After certain amount you will need to call MS to activate but that is just normal.

So I just reformat my hard drive (after I backup all my data and stuff) and then reinstall the OS?

    No problems. No hassles?

Plus I got a full version because I'm a Microsoft Xpert Zone member (due to my employment at a retail store). That means I do NOT need to install Vista first and then install Windows 7 correct?

You can just reformat and start over, it's as as simple as that. I also have the special expert zone retail copy, so trust me, it'll be just fine. ;)
