    Need to delete os from a partition

    the title says it and i've dual booted it and now i need to delete it

    Could you elaborate a bit John?

    Useful information would be:
    • What OS's
    • Which hosts the MBR (would likely be the one most recently installed)
    • Do you have recovery media (and is it OEM or retail)
    • Which OS do you plan to keep

    The reason I ask these questions is because you can remove an OS by deleting the partition, however, if it hosts the boot loader, your computer may be unable to boot after removal. In that case, you would need to repair the boot loader. This can be done with a retail Windows CD, however not all OEM recovery cd's. Depending on your situation, you may need further means of fixing your boot loader.

    well it's windows 7, whats mbr?, no recovery media, and i plan on keeping vista and i tried deleting it and the vista still works i just still get the screen the screen to pick which os

    Oh good so you already have been through the risky part, without harm :). Download EasyBCD and install it. It's a very intuitive interface for handling your boot loader.

    thanks i actually am going to plan to boot wins 7 on virtual pc cause i got my old friends laptop and i just put it on he's computer
