Hey folks --- quick question/poll for input:
Today I allowed a representative from Netflix to access control of my computer via a program called GotoAssist --- turns out that there's something about the way AVG 8.0 handles the Netflix ID on one's computer when accessing streaming movies via the web (the rep talked about it cache-ing the ID in such a way that each time you watch a movie, Netflix thinks that you're logging on with a new device --- and you're only allowed 4 per the terms of services).
Anyway.. I got over my initial bout of paranoia about letting someone control my machine --- the tech quickly installed a program, entered some registry code, and the issue seems to be fixed. I've looked for more info about this over the web, and it seems like there are other people getting this treatment too. I imagine that the whole process is fairly innocuous -- but I can't help being paranoid about residue left on my computer.![]()
I'm scanning for things now. Looked through my services.msc file and msconfig file, and am trying to think of other ways to quench my paranoid appetite.
Anyone else have experience and/or opinions about this --- or anyone care to tell me to CALM DOWN ITS FINE??

It's probably just fine... but I'd always prefer to have the rep tell me what to do. If someone said, "let me just remote in to your machine," I'd say, "or maybe we can just go ahead and refund the remainder of the balance of my account right now. Thanks."

Calm down. It's fine.
I doubt NetFlix has any malicious intent.
Netflix, gotoassist, registries, and a health dose of paranoia -- thoughts?
