A few minutes ago, I unplugged the ethernet cord from my laptop and put it in my Xbox 360 so I could play. (Like I always do) I get done playing, and when I come back, the Network Icon in the Taskbar is gone. It's never done this before. Here are some screens.

Any ideas as to why is just took itself off, and greyed out the option?

this has happened to me several times including the battery and sound icons missing.. rebooting gets them to reappear
-
You might probably need to reinstall the ethernet controller driver.
-
Well, it took one reboot and one complete shutdown/cold boot to get the option to become available again.
I still had to go in the properties and re-select it. I wonder why this happened? It's fixed, so I guess I shouldn't ask questions.
Thanks for the replies guys. -
Maybe try getting to your device via device manager or start menu and seeing if you can re-enable the icon, if not simple reinstall.

are u using WinFlog or WinBubble?

Anyway, This is easy to FIX:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
delete HideSCANetwork -
Again, after a few reboots, the problem solved itself. So I'm not worried about.
Thanks again guys!
Network Icon has dissappeared from my Taskbar
