Hi Surfasb--thanks, also, for your help. I am using (or at least tried) the u/ns and p/ws that we normally use for the desktop (which yes...that is where the printer is connected.) I'm not sure what you mean by connecting to the "network neighborhood?" You'll have to dumb-it-down more than that. Sorry! My three year old knows more.![]()
When I go on the internet, my laptop connects through our Netgear router connection. Is that the "network neighborhood" you're talking about?

If it is XP, then I'll set up a new u/n and p/w. -
Network neighborhood is under my computers. If you hit Windows key + E to bring up explorer, look for the network neighborhood icon on the left. Or it maybe called network places. If you expand that tree, see if you can see your computer.
That doesn't solve the whole username/password problem. If you are entering in the correct login information, it SHOULD let you connect. Odd. Unless someone has been messing with your Group Policies which may or maynot be likely. -
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Just checking both computers are plugged into the same router?

Sorry for the delay in response. It's been hectic here. Three young children here with a crazy dog. -

So are you on wireless?

Just to see if it works, can you try plugging both computers into the wire with an ethernet cable (probably what you're desktop's plugged in with), and do all of the before mentioned.
It might be a wireless security issue with the router rather than computer, methinks.
