For some reason, I can no longer access the Network and Sharing Center on my Vista Home premium (stock Asus G1S-A1). I am still connected to the internet and everything, but in the notification area it says connection status unknown; server execution failed, and when i try to open it through the control panel, it just hangs there in a window and doesn't do anything. Eventually it shows up but I can't do anything with it, and it still says server execution failed. I really don't want to have to reinstall Vista because I don't have an external harddrive with which to back everything up. I'm guessing its some sort of driver issue with the local area connections in the laptop but its only a guess.

Its not an urgent problem as long as I can connect to the internet with an ethernet cable, but I can't set up any new networks like this...which is a problem.

Check if right clicking on the icon and clicking "Diagnosis and repair" will solve anything. Have you tried restarting your PC?

Already restarted multiple times. Diagnosing and repairing also says nothing is wrong with it. On a similar note, since this happened, all of my Steam games will not run for some reason; hl2.exe just simply crashes. Its also treating it as a public network for some reason.

Tried that, didn't do anything. I think I may have found the problem though; the Network List Service won't start. It gives me this error message: Error 1450 Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service at this time. Any ideas?

Fixed; common Vista glitch I guess. Had to do this in CMD Prompt

net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add

Good to hear you fixed it though that sounds cumbersome.

bump bump for a somewhat older thread.

I'm also experiencing this problem on my Asus G1s. I thought it might have been SP1RC so I uninstalled it, but the issue remains. Can't access any advanced network settings.

*EDIT* NVM. I ran the command net localgroup "Administrators" "Local Service" /add in safe mode and suddenly, network utilities are working right again.
