I dual boot with linux and windows, so i have a image of my current linux partition so that i can restore it if something goes wrong. However, after i restored my image, which does not write to the MBR, I noticed that my laptop is now trying to boot from LAN before it tries to boot from the HD. I looked in the bios and the network adapter is at the bottom and i have it disabled on boot, however if i have a ethernet cable plugged in it trys to issue and IP via DHCP. Does anyone else have this problem and how can i fix it?
My system specs are in my sig
Thanks!

C'mon, someone must know something about my problem

hm. look what I found: http://forums.aanet.com.au/viewtopi...ghlight=&sid=6617945fbf682d9875590c3805800f4a
I don't know if that will help.
Btw, did you try resetting the BIOS? It's definately something there. Reflash is also an option -
Yes, i have already re-flashed the BIOS and set the factory defaults, but neither seemed to work.
I also read that post and i have no realtek splash screen like that guy did.....this is such a weird problem...... -
Check the settings in the boot.ini file (system properties, advanced, start up and recovery). Hm, sounds strange.
Why don't you ask a moderator to move the thread to the Software forum. I believe there are people there who will have something to say. -
Well, the boot.ini may have worked if it werent for 2 things:
A) I am not using the standard windows NTLDR bootloader, i am using GRUB as i am dual booting between linux and windows.
B) It is trying to boot from LAN before it even gets to the bootloader (GRUB)
ADMIN: PLEASE MOVE THIS THREAD TO THE HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE SECTION (WHICHEVER YOU THINK THE THREAD PERTAINS TO) -
Admin please!

Maybe it has to do with partition order and something got switched?
Have you successfully done a recovery using your linux partition before?
Network boot problem...sorta
