I dual boot with linux and windows, so i have a image of my current linux partition so that i can restore it if something goes wrong. However, after i restored my image, which does not write to the MBR, I noticed that my laptop is now trying to boot from LAN before it tries to boot from the HD. I looked in the bios and the network adapter is at the bottom and i have it disabled on boot, however if i have a ethernet cable plugged in it trys to issue and IP via DHCP. Does anyone else have this problem and how can i fix it?

My system specs are in my sig

    Thanks!

Yes, i have already re-flashed the BIOS and set the factory defaults, but neither seemed to work.

I also read that post and i have no realtek splash screen like that guy did.....this is such a weird problem......

Check the settings in the boot.ini file (system properties, advanced, start up and recovery). Hm, sounds strange.
Why don't you ask a moderator to move the thread to the Software forum. I believe there are people there who will have something to say.

Well, the boot.ini may have worked if it werent for 2 things:

    A) I am not using the standard windows NTLDR bootloader, i am using GRUB as i am dual booting between linux and windows.

    B) It is trying to boot from LAN before it even gets to the bootloader (GRUB)

Maybe it has to do with partition order and something got switched?

Have you successfully done a recovery using your linux partition before?
