So says C-Net:

I probably won't have time to mess with it until Thursday or so, so someone try it and let us know how it works [].

Darn, it's WinXP Server 2003, not regular WinXP:

Update: if you go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/evaluation/upgrade.mspx
And click Get the Download, it says:
"Note regarding the CD: A new version of Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Preview is on its way. The CD is currently available to pre-order with shipping expected to begin approximately August 30, 2004. Please proceed with your order. Orders will be processed when inventory becomes available.
Note regarding the Download: The download is currently not available. We are expecting the download to be available mid-August. Please visit the site at that time for further download details."

This is the link you want. I ordered mine yesterday. The only cost was $12.95 for 3-5 day shipping. The license expires in 360 days, but that's more than enough time to evaluate it and see if it's worth buying the final release. I only hope that the long expiration date on the pre-release version does not mean that we have to wait another year or more for the final version.[V] -
What is XP 64-bit?, can somebody explain the differance between it and standard XP for me.
thanks

The standard Windows XP is 32bit. There are very little, if any, software programs that currently take advantage of 64bit computers (which are currently available). In the future everything will be 64bit. 32bit computers can still run 64bit software.

It's out!

Looks to be build 1218. I'm hesitant to play with it on my notebook though, if only because of the lack of 64-bit Broadcom WiFi drivers and HP's locking out miniPCI cards made by more reasonable manufacturers.
New 64-bit WinXP beta coming out Monday
