The CCleaner team really stays on top of their product well for being a free tool. I am impressed.

 

Same here. They seem to really be on the ball. They came out with support for Chrome days after the beta was released and the same goes for the other browsers. Very impressive.

Does this clean anything in the registry? I've heard that "could" be a bad thing...It's better to not clean the registry..? Can someone please comment about this? Thanks

 

It does not clean the registry. It deletes temp files created by Windows or other apps. There is a registry "fixing" feature that attempts to clean up the registry, but that is separate. I agree, though, it is dangerous to mess with the registry. This is why it prompts you to make a backup first.

 

Ok cool. Now I actually think I'm learning something after reading these forums for a week! Hopefully I'll be prepared when I get that new notebook!!

 

CCleaner is very safe. I always make a backup of the reg, though I have never had any issues whatsoever, using CCleaner all these months.

Having said that, its always a nice idea to make a backup of system (or data, as needed) before messing with the OS in general - Not just with CCleaner.

Yeah I love CCleaner
I use it all the time.
Their other products are great also, especially Recuva.
I use that one often also.

 

Does that mean there are more bugs with CCleaner?

I wonder what those bugs in IE History Index.dat and XP prefetch cleaning are.

No, it just gets more frequent updates than Recuva and Defraggler because it's there most widely used product and a lot of the time when the browser makes a big change they do too(Well for Chrome's case).

You have bugs in those 2 selections?

 

The only problems I've notice with CC Cleaner is tripping the desktop icon with Garmin Mapsource and Google Eart's launch bar icon. I put them both in excluded.

 

I didn't notice any bugs with those 2 selections with the previous version, but the change log you posted had those listed, this is why I'm wondering what it could be.

 

Oh, I got you. Most likely a fix in the way it cleans or where it cleans. Cleans more thoroughly or something. Idk. :]

 

I just downloaded the new version. It seems to function faster than the old one for whatever reason (not that I'm complaining).
