Have been using old faithful yahoo for many years. Works fine but too much spam and still occasionally buggy. Time for the next generation, Google Gmail seems to offer a lot of new features and promises less spam. You can chat right from the mailbox and pictures are easily downloadable, easy to archive. Tried to download the new Yahoo mail beta, but never got though the installation process, obviously still a work in progress rushed too early to market. Anybody try others.

I used Windows Live Mail, been with Hotmail all these years. I just don't like Yahoo!, everything about them is bad...and I hate their tactics, like the Yahoo Toolbar.

GMail is okay, but I'm fine with Windows Live Mail.

I use Yahoo mail for emails that I don't want (like subscriptions that send ads).

I also have Gmail and Hotmail for regular emails.

I don't really have a preference because I use outlook. My mailboxes never get close to full because the messages are all downloaded.

I will say that the one nice thing about Google is that they give free POP email access. My Hotmail account (free) does too, but it's old. The new Hotmail free acounts will not let you. Yahoo doesn't either, but there's a program that allows you to download the Yahoo emails.

So basically I get those three accounts, plus my work exchange account and my college account (soon to expire) delivered to my Outlook inbox.

    Here's a quick comparison

    I definitely prefer Gmail.
Among other things, it has an amazing spam filter; I get about 1000 spam emails in my spam folder per month, about 1 every 2 or 3 months actually makes it to my inbox.
Edit: Also, it's never falsely identified a legitimate email as spam (something WLM does very often).

If you are looking for me, I would probably go with Windows Live.

If you are willing to pay a little, you should consider one of the email vendors that are out there (like emailhosting.com for example). They deliver both Web and POP3/IMAP access and also typically throw antispam in.

I have Gmail, which I believe is the best. I also have Windows Live and Yahoo which are also pretty good. I have never had any spam in my inbox in Gmail and I have been with them from the very beginning.

I've heard good things of yahoo mail.. I just use gmail out of habit. Mostly the spam filter works great. I've only once gotten a false positive.

I use aol for my main mail, had an account since the ancient days of dial-up. GASP! But for junk that I just need to activate, with waves of things to follow I use yahoo.
