The first is the Glass Sound Scheme, which makes the sound seem like they are made with glass instruments. The second is the Pearl Sound Scheme, which further extends the intentionally subtle design of the Vista default sound scheme with a richer, milky palate. Dreamscene Content Pack & Language Packs have also been updated.
Microsoft is expected to release quite a few Ultimate Extras this year. This one has come after a long gap ! An Extra a month would probably be better. While to some they may be useless, most actually look forward to it. They should appear on your Windows Updates anytime.

We've seen how interested MS has been in the Extras, and I won't believe it until I see it.

That glass sound crap sounds pretty dumb...imo. But some people might like it. Now when people ask "WHAT VERSION OF VISTA SHOULD I GET AND WHY?" You can say that Ultimate has more sound schemes!

That's a lame incentive to get Vista Ultimate. I personally have all the sounds turned off including the startup sound.

    hahahahahahahah :)

Yes i think that Ultimate is just overloaded with things that are not really needed.

Vista Home premium is by far the one that most people really need.

So true. They've just giving us Ultimate users a better excuse to stay with it! (or to get others to upgrade ;] ) But IMO they aren't really that flash... I can't even tell the difference between stock and the Pearl sound scheme.

Agreed. I too have my logon, logoff, shutdown sounds off.
Only good thing about Ultimate is MAYBE Dreamscene, but still it's not worth it. That thing is a ram hog anyways. Home Premium ftw.

Ugh...ultimate, yet vista in general. It’s called bloatware, and Microsoft seems to be a mass producer of it.

I think MS has got XBox users confused with high end Windows users. XBox users love faceplates and all that stuff. I'd much rather see things like a nice scientific calulator or something for Ultimate users.

It is in the automatic updates. I have attached my Ultimate Dreamscene (stillshot) and enjoy the glass sound scheme.

Dreamscene is definitel eyecandy and gets many second looks. Only with I could find a Jen Love Hewitt Dreamscene lol

u can get DreamScene like experience on any Windows.

and its not even a Hack or stupid illegal method.

all u gotta have is VLC.

and it OWNS Dreamscene because its Damn light.

Note enabling the sounds is quite literally nothing different than having the default ones and doesn't even hurt you any more than if you turn them off.

    I just turn them off.

Dreamscene is ok... but I rarely use it unless I am looking for something serene, and yes, it is more intensive than a picture or just my usual plain color background.

Fluff isn't my thing and Vista can be paired down to be almost as efficient as XP (moreso if you install equipvalent security software).

Actually I think this kind of software should be available in Home Premium.(Kids does no need to be in business or like eye candy on Ultimate to need one, they really need it since they go to school)

    Agree!!!! :)

Well, maybe so, however, if Ultimate is going to give any bonuses, those are the sort it should offer. 99% of people that like prettier pictures on thier computer desktops aren't going to be the type that will spend $100 or more on a premium tier Windows.

I love the new eye candies and sounds. It makes my laptop more enjoyable and more pleasing to the eyes with "green" nature backgrounds.

I'm using the new Glass sound motif. I like how the sounds now have more body to them.
