Wow just installed Firefox on someones advise and find its so much faster than Explorer 7.

    Questions if I may...

    1. Can I have it start multiple sites automatically like Explorer multi-tabs???

    2. Can I delete Explorer without deleting Windows Mail or are they tied in???

    Thanx ahead...

    1) I don't think you can(someone correct me if I am wrong) but firefox has a multitude of addons which perhaps one of them would allow for this?

    2) You cannot delete or remove internet explorer from windows as it is built into the OS. What you can do however if you want is delete the I.E shortcuts off the desktop and quick launch bar and if you want you can set firefox to be the default browser.

Glad to see you like firefox been using it myself for years now :) . You should also try Opera as it is just as fast if not faster than firefox and as usual both are much safer than I.E.

i personally would not recommend minefield (granParadiso ...) at this moment unless u r ready for a wild ride. The last few weeks nightly built were (and still r) nothing but nightmare.

    cheers ...

i m using minefield and ff in parallel as well.

since pre08 built, minefield has lots of issues with more sites got bombed out and many in.screen dialogs suddenly not functioning properly. it was fine during pre07 built series. i still update it everyday (minus sunday), latest noticeable changes was the download manager, now having better icon and properties. many sites needed long time to negociate handshake, did not happen before in pre07 built. i m sure that the developers r busying improving it.

    cheers ...

you mean multiple pages as home page?
you can open up your tabs and go to options and choose use current pages
or put the urls in the home page field separated by bars, i.e. google.com|yahoo.com

    1) It is possible by means on extensions, <strike>however, Firefox does not have this ability built-in yet.<strike> PermaTabs is an extension that does something similar, although not exactly what you are looking for.

    2) The two are not "tied," but there really isn't a clean way of uninstalling IE. I wouldn't recommend it either way.

I think that the TabMixPlus add-on has a way to preserve the tabs that are open so that they reopen upon the next start of FF.

As jimc stated opening multiple tabs at startup is as easy as putting the | (vertical bar) between the names of the pages. It will open them in their own tabs every new firefox launch.

    e.g. http://www.google.com| http://www.cnet.com| http://www.hotmail.com| http://www.creativetouchcrafts.net

As for removing IE everyone else is right in saying it's nearly impossible to remove and entirely not worth the effort. Despite FF being so great (I've used it as my main browser for 2 years now r so) there will come a time when a poorly written web page will require IE to properly function.

Just let FF be your default browser and delete all the shortcuts in your start menu/on your desktop if you don't want to be reminded that IE is on your system.

Watch out for plugins. Firefox starts to get memory hungry (and leaks) with many or certain intensive plugins.

I only use Firefox for development (it's got some great plugins to make my life easier). For general usage, I love Opera, but once Safari for Windows becomes stable, I'm moving over to that.
