I found this driver version on the inter website for the Mobile IntelĀ® 945PM Express Chipset. The "new" version # is: 8.3.0.1013 while the version i have on my computer as well as on bizcom website is: 8.2.0.1012. windows update will not try to update to the new version although i have it configured to look for driver updates when checking for updates! Can anyone shed any light on this. Thanx

simply: windows will check only a few drivers on win updates. video card, and all drivers, you better look at the website of the company that makes them, and Intel is one of these...

The drivers windows update have are in their own repository, meaning they have their own copies on their servers. Therefore the drivers you get from windows update will not always be the latest, nor will it be the most compatible driver for some devices.
