I bought a Toshiba Satellite p305d-s8828 a few days ago. I'm getting a strange pattern across my display on reboot that kind of looks like electrical interference although it may not be - random flashing horizontal lines. It last about 10 seconds during the windows start up. Doesn't happen any other time, or coming from sleep or hibernation. Doesn't seem to fit the type of thing seen from the "multiple monitorrs:" Vista issue. Is there a chance that removal of some of the bloatware from the laptop, or from the startup processes has caused this? Is it more likely a hardware issue? I didn't notice if it did this before the clean up or not. Can still return it but would rather not if it can be taken care of or if I at least know what is causing it.

    Thank you.

always reformat bloatware'd pc's!, if you cant(or dont want to bother unless you absolutely have to), uninstall anything you can(excluding drivers and things you might actually use), disable services that are unneeded, make sure the video(and any other) drivers are updated, and automatic tasks arent running.

could be a program that loads on logon/boot that sets refresh rate causing the lines. if you cant get it to happen any other time, its likely a software thing. if possible check the bio's options for video stuff(be careful and remember what you change if anything) if none of the startup processes is causing it.

remember always be careful when editing boot/login procedures, don't want to do anything you cant undo!

autoruns and processexplorer from systeminternals might help a bit. and again, BECAREFUL
