The other night I downloaded the latest vista update that showed up in windows update which was called, "XML core services 4.0 service pack 2" and it screwed with my network options or something, my wireless internet connection icon in the task bar showed up as a big x, and anytime I tried to open the network options in the control panel, the window would just hang up in a blank screen. Seemed to do some other weird stuff to make certain programs lag, like winamp. Fixed it with a quick restore point change, but I was wondering if anyone else had any weird issues with this update? Wondering if its something with my comp, or if its a bad update from MS.

Upon further investigation, it turns out that it wasn't the update that messed stuff up. I think it happened when I installed AIM6, first the network thing messes up, then it screws up my sound and makes me get no sound. Are there compatibility issues between AIM6 and vista? I know a friend who is using AIM6 without issue. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

You might enjoy Pidgin. http://www.pidgin.im/ It's a messenger program that supports multiple networks (AIM, Yahoo, etc). Think of it as AIM Lite, without the AOL bloating/advertisements :)

Yep, there is an issue with AIM6 and Vista. I had the same issue (and someone else on here had the same issue as well). Had to do a restore in order to get everything working right

I have used AIM ever since I made the move to Vista and I have yet to experience any problems with it.

Thats quite strange, at least I know what caused the problem now. I guess I'll try out that program you guys mentioned, or an older version of aim
