Thanks for the info. That sounds/looks like a big update. Going to run through it when I get home today.
-
Auto updates WILL become available correct?
-
Just finished updating........
Thanks. -
-
-
do these updates contain also the previous updates? or are they to be installed separatly?
-
Better battery life....anyone could tell about the difference?
-
-
Thank you for the tip off!
-
Unfortunately I do not see a fix for the terrible vista sleep problems in this update.
-
darthsat: to which specific problem are you referring?
-
Many vista users experience problems with the sleep(standby) function. I have the problem in which whenever I attempt to put my notebook to sleep, the screen turns off, as does the power. The only way to bring it back is to press the power button. When I press the power button, it boots the computer as it would from a power off state. It says during the boot process that windows did not shut down properly and if I want to run it in safe mode. This happens every time I try to put it into standby.
I was hoping there would be a vista update that addresses this. -
Hey thanks a lot.
-
Just thinking about that...have you ever tried something like eventvwr ?
-
on the first update link, i dont see a link to DL the update for a Vista 32-bit...any ideas help?
-
-
When will these show up on windows auto - manual updates on pc's?
-
After installing the first update the initial network connection lag on startup is gone for me. As soon as the desktop loads the network connects immediately and the tray icons show up very quickly as well.
Now if I could only figure out what is causing all of the hard drive thrashing after login... -
USB errors are gone(Like USB mouse not working after up from sleep) -
Thanks for the heads up man, i'm going to update right now. I'll also give you some rep.

Warning : Broadcom NetLink (TM) Fast Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected.
Error : Audit events have been dropped by the transport. The real time backup file was corrupt due to improper shutdown.
Error : The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
Nothing that tells me about the abrupt crash. -
Actually i'm having some problems downloading the update from windows update. If this came out yesterday what happened? Why can't i DL it?
-
time for download mode... -
the update seems to have knocked down the memory usage a bit. I have never seen my stablized Vista use less than 300M before this patch.
-
-
darthsat: do you use a docking station or a USB mouse?
-
The performance update(first one) seem to help my system idle better. Before there was constant cpu usage and it really idled with around 10% usage. After installing the update there is a noticable decrease in the idle cpu usage and pretty much remains in the single digits most of the time.
-
Thanks for the info. Rep up!

Thanks for the tip man.
Though recently; yesterday, I noticed a huge drop off in CPU usage. I haven't even downloaded these updates yet. I installed a game as a matter of fact. My CPU usage before was on average 10%, after installing that game yesterday it went down to an average of 1%. It idles between completely inactive (0%) and 5%. My RAM usage also decreased significatly as well. It was on average between 45% and 55%, after installing the game, it went down to 33% steady. Using programs it boosts to about 45% but other than that.... not much more activity. Haven't done any intensive gaming yet with the real games so I don't know how much activity boosts. -
darthsat: usb mouse is a possible culprit, do you see any link when using it vs when the problem occurs?
-
anyone knows why? -
confused
, but the v5201 is still pokey like it was prior to the update...............

question = The first update in your post. There is no version avaliable for vista 32 bit users, only 64bit and 86bit on the microsoft site. Where are we meant to get the 32bit version for the 1st update?
-
-
LOL, as R4000 mentioned x86 is the 32bit version.
MS likes to call the x86_64bit as x64 while keeping the x86 designation for 32bit versions. -
-
Anybody noticed the claimed decrease in start-up time or better battery life?
-
BTW my system loads much quicker and IDLE CPU usage gone down after the update -
anyone else have problems with sleep prior to this? such as it would go into sleep mode fine, however, randomly when waking from sleep, the computer would just restart on its own and I would get a message saying that the system recovered from an unexpected shutdown and gives me the option to start normall or in safe mode?
-
When do you think we can see these updates on windows update? I want good performance too.
-
Should I just go ahead and download them straight off the site or wait until it reaches Auto-Update?
-
Downloading them off the site would mean you get them faster, but i don't know. I'm suspicious so i'll wait for auto-update to do the work for me. I can live without it for a few days. If it comes out in like a few months then i'll still be able to handle the wait, but for others maybe not. It depends on how much you need it.
