I recently got an Asus eee PC 1000H, but as I didn't like the default Windows XP home that came with it (too many programs and processes), I installed my own XP Pro (legal). There was however a program in the default XP that I'm missing now. It allowed you to choose the processor's clocking frequency (turbo something). So now my PC is set to 798 MHz (processor is 1.6 GHz, atom). Is there any way to get ahold of this software or do I have to overclock via BIOS?

    *EDIT*

Uuuh, nevermind. I found some stuff on their site. I've heard of a better multitouch driver though. Where can I find that?

maybe little off-topic, but how do you like the laptop overall ? I had thoughts of buying the same model as a second laptop.

Lol overcloking is not a XP default feature. About the multitouch driver, you'll have to go look for it on the synaptics website.

Read more closely. I never wrote it was a default XP feature. It's an app included in the default ASUS XP install.

I really like it so far. With COREAVC it runs 720p files without any problems, and startup is smooth and fast. I've noticed some problems with Adobe Acrobat reader, but that could be software-related (also, I had downclocked the processor to save battery). Some people have complained about the loud fan, but I didn't notice that until today, when I was in a perfectly quiet room (it could get a little annoying). I wanted to get an MSI Wind, but they're sold out in my country, and they have very low battery time (you basically need to buy the bigger battery, which would cost you an extra $100). If you get one, get the white one, I got the black one as it was the only model they had left. Doesn't feel as clean.

Might try dual-booting with OSX later on, as I really like the OS. Software compatibility isn't an issue, as it won't run a lot of it anyway due to it's relatively low performance (also the small screen).

I got a new powerful stationary too. The good thing is they don't overlap each other in function. The eee PC is perfect for school and travel, as I don't want size or performance in a laptop.

*EDIT* I forgot to add that the EEE PC has an excellent multi-touchpad (if you get the latest drivers).
