I wasn't able to find any drivers for that model number you posted.

    Try going here >>> http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp?cmpid=topnav

then enter your notebook's serial number and see whether they have Windows XP drivers for your laptop. If they have them, download them to a flash disk or somewhere you can access later on and install XP.

Otherwise, stick to Vista and don't bother as it'll be a hassle and you might render your notebook in an unuseable state.

don't. use vista, that's what it's made for. switch to win7 later if you want, as it will work just as well (same driver model).

forget xp if you can. if you have something that needs xp, ask us about help, maybe we can get it to work without xp. or use a virtual machine with xp on, just for that.

but forget xp as a main os, it's not worth the hazzle on new machines, it will perform badly.

edit: how about clean installing vista? that helps often very much. no bloatware on it, just the bare os. performs much better.

Quoted for truth! The laptop was designed for Vista, installing XP will just render it useless ase there is no driver support and deminish alot of its features.

Vista FTW for your specific laptop
