if didn't come with a OS then a Backup ( Full Image ) would be the best option .

Your notebook should come with a Recovery partition if you need to reinstall the OS.

On some notebooks you have to burn the recovery disks yourself

    What notebook do you have?

I just bought the new Lenovo T500 Thinkpad. I agree with you there should be some sort of back up system for me incase i get screwed over. Do you know where I can find it?

I downloaded that back up system that vinumsv told me to get. But it says I shouldn't back up my data while running the OS itself. how the hell do I do that?
