I'm currently waiting for my new laptop which I ordered without OS and wanted to transfer my Win7 license to the new machine. However, it appears that on my current laptop I have OEM Windows 7 that has been initially installed by vendor.
From what I found they are bound to a single machine. The question is, as I can buy another OEM key for really cheap, does it work and if yes, how? Do I use an OEM key and this Windows copy is now bound to this particular PC? Is this Windows copy eligible for a Windows 10 upgrade later?
Thank you in advance.

Yes.
It installs exactly the same way as a retail license - pop the disk in or create a USB thumb drive from the DVD, boot from it, and follow the prompts.
Yes on all counts.Niaphim likes this. -
Great news, thank you very much!

Just make sure the OEM key you buy is truly legit. I was burned with Ebay keys in the past.

Fair point and one that I glossed over from the first post. Most of those cheap keys you see are from people signed up for the Microsoft Developer Network, and it is against the rules to sell them. If you get one, though it might not happen right away, MS will eventually find you and blacklist your installation.
Best to just buy a legit OEM copy from Amazon, Newegg, etc.Rodster likes this. -
That's exactly what happened to me.
