If you have Aero enabled, you'll have higher RAM usage. Otherwise, a proper OS will fill as much memory as possible, because that makes it run faster. It will relinquish it when necessary to run other apps, as most of it is used for file caches and such that the OS will release when the memory is requested by a program. As for faster with a clean install, probably. That's about the only time Windows runs fast.

BTW, call me when your PSP can take touchscreen input, or play a Mario game ;)

No, no my friend. Everyone has the right to a new processor. Opinions are only if you have 2GB of ram... Anyway, would recommend Ubuntu for that. Designed for old comps so it'll just use what it needs. Your call. Also the DS is not only selling like a $50 Core 2 duo notebook, it is also short on stock in Japan. I think i'll sell my black DSL in Japan to get the new silver one.

i owned a psp, and i can tell you the graphics are definitely NOT better than the ps2 or gamecube.. take a look at god of war 2 or resident evil 4.. let alone most late gen gamecube /ps2 games and tell me that. Granted the system is a powerhouse.. it mainly has ports of ps2 games that play better on the ps2 anyway. Graphics are much less important than gameplay, and the psp is seriously lacking in that department. THe sales reflect that, the ds is outseling the psp worldwide by a 2:1 ratio.

Alright guys, let's chill on the PSP/DS comments ;) It was a joke on my end, and we really don't need to keep ripping into him.

aan310, if you don't want comments like that, don't have a sig like you have. It's pretty simple to solve.

Either way, back on topic, your machine will possibly run faster with a clean install, especially if it came with a lot of crapware installed by default, but you could definitely try reinstalling clean, see if it fixes anything. My main point was that you can't say Vista is running slow because it's using all your memory, as that's exactly what it's supposed to do, and makes your machine run faster by caching files and keeping recent data available.
