This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Nice, a great alternative to Works if you don't need or don't want to spend on Office.

    I use OpenOffice. I LOVE it. After installing it I removed Office from my system and have actually been much happier. Being able to export to PDF and flash is fantastic. Version 2.0 is a nice upgrade over 1.5.

    Yea, I've used MS Office all my life but OO has been great. The change was very easy.

    Can open office read and convert MSword documents, and vice versa? EG, if I work at home, will my documents transport to the MS environment at work? I love open source; would love to see the world go that way

    Yup, it'll convert/save to just about any format you want, including Office 2003 stuff...

    Yea, you can save it in almost a dozen different formats.

    Besides it being free, its constantly being updated and all.
