Newb question I think: can I swap hard drive into a different machine of the same model?

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo P400 touch which I love. -but- it's been abused. There are various problems with the machine physically.
A friend of mine has the same laptop with same gigs of RAM (Probably not the same brand though since we both upgraded) and the same model processor (i7 3rd gen: 3632QM).
He wants to keep the hard drive, so I am wondering if I can just put *my* HD in *his* machine and have it just up normally???
    I'm running windows 8.

Yes, you can, provided that the other laptop has a license for the Windows version you have installed on your HDD.

You should confirm the other machine matches yours in terms of the other hardware (RAM and hard drive size don't matter).

If not, some drivers may need to be removed or replaced for full functionality.

Only if the laptop is the same make and Model and has the same board otherwise expect problems and having to reinstall drivers to match the new board. This is what needs to match before just popping in a HDD and expecting it to go smoothly.
