Recently I was with group of people and between laughs I discovered to my surprise that many of them didn't know what the shortcut WINDOWS key+TAB does in win7.
How many of you don't know?Well now you found out.

i knew never use it though

never use it... many times it doesnt respond when alt-tab does, like in sc2
not only that, but the "window" is partially overlapped by the "window" on top, you have to be able to recognize what the left 1/3rd of the "window" that you want to choose to get to it quickly, unless you want to win+tab through each one and repeat to yourself over and over again 'is this one it?' 'nope' 'next' 'this one?' 'nope' 'next' 'ah yes, this one'
and to top it off, there's no labels like there are with alt+tab, if i had a bunch of different word documents opened, for example, it's difficult to tell which one is which without titles or labels since they all look the same, and this not only applies to word, but to virtually every program since all instances of the same program generally have the same design, ... even firefox; with the previews of firefox windows being so small, it's hard to tell them apart, even if the web pages are completely different.. not to mention that you'd have to recognize the elements of the page that you were on.. "oh yeah, notebookreview has that orange/blue logo at the top left"
and to switch to the next "window", you'd have to hit win+tab twice as opposed to just once with alt+tab
in the end, it's just not ergonomic -
Brawn... you said exactly what vicious said but with 250 more words lol.

Alt + Tab works far quicker, in my experience. For both methods, you can also hold shift to scroll through in the opposite direction.
While we're on the topic of shortcuts, other great Win7 shortcuts people don't know about include:
Win + Space = Peek to Desktop
Win + Left/Right = Aero Snap current Window to left/right side of screen
Win + Down/Up = Minimize/Maximize
Win + Number Keys (1, 2, 3...) = Launch first, second, third, etc. item pinned to taskbar -

Some "mouse shortcuts" too.
Drag a window to the far left border of your screen does the aero snap to the left, vice versa for the right.
Drag a window to the top border of your screen maximizes it.
Click to drag a window and "shake it" minimizes all other windows
I snap windows to the left & right sides often when I need to work on two things at once and data is coming from one window and going into the next I even do it with photoshop sometimes. -

anyway these win+tab is pretty much the same as my Logitech mouse's document flip button -
O.k., so here's the uber-secret: Open Windows Help and Support, and type "keyboard shortcuts" in the Search field, then go to, amazingly enough, "Keyboard shortcuts". Enjoy...
P.S.: As a conservative estimate, 99.9% of those so-called "Windows Secrets" are right there at your fingertips, just by going to Help and Support. -
My favorites are old ones from the Windows 5 era, like:
Win + R = Run
Win + Pause = System -
could you mention more old-school style? -
I also knew... but never use it. Not used to use Alt+Tab either...
-
i found it on accident lol...meant to hit alt tab but hit window and i was like ?
Nice Win7 shortcut.
