No replies? I also haven't received from WU, (although I tried the standalone but it said there was a language pack (trad. chinese) that needed to be uninstalled, but I can't do that so yea). Might've answered my own question xD It's just kinda annoying that that has happened, couldn't they just give all languages? :(

If it hasn't shown up for you as yet then it is most likely because the language pack your current vista installation is using hasn't been released as yet. Microsoft releases the service packs in waves and the current wave probably doesn't include your current installation language.

Sorry I assumed you were using another language  . There could be a multitude of other reasons why you haven't been offered it as yet. There was a pre SP update that came out a few weeks before Microsoft released SP2 via windows update you need to have that update installed as well as SP1. If you already do then perhaps the SP hasn't been offered because of some compatibility reason with your current setup. I personally don't use windows update for any SPs I usually download the standalone installers. You should try downloading the standalone installer and run that instead. If that fails to update you to SP2 then you definitely have some kind of compatibility issue.

Frankly, i'm up to date with windows update... and unless it pops up i don't wanna force anything i guess :D

I cant quite figure out what would cause the incompatibility though...
I mean, its just my gateway... not some exotic computer :p

You'll get SP2 via Windows/Microsoft Update on the 30th of June. The alternative is to download the full package from Microsoft and install manually, but the automated update will take less time and be smaller anyway.

You'll need SP1 installed before you get SP2.

That's odd since I picked up Service Pack 2 off Windows Update last week, maybe Microsoft had a minor glitch in its release schedule.

SP2 has been showing up in my Windows update every day now for the last two weeks. I still haven't downloaded it and installed it because I'm a little leery after reading about the problems some people are having after SP2 (long boot times, folder issues, etc.). I think I'll wait a couple more months to see if those issues get resolved.

Got SP2 for 64-bit _Vista last week via Win-Update and haven't had a single problem with it since then. If it's showing up in your updates I'd go ahead and install it.
