I have a very odd problem. One of the videos I have plays properly in either MPC or WMP10, however there's absolutely no audio at all and each time I play the video in MPC a little speaker icon with an x on its right displays instead of the stereo speaker icon I normally get for most files. Strangely enough when I play the video in my Vuze media player everything works as it should (video and audio).
I've re-registered filters and reset all settings in my CCCP codec pack to no avail. This is the first time I'm encountering such a strange problem and I would very much like to find a way to solve it without having to play the file through my less preferred media player.
Edit: All right, I've figured out the problem. Neither WMP nor MPC have a dedicated TrueHD audio codec installed and the CCCP codec pack doesn't seem to contain the option either. I have to figure out how to enable AC3 decoding somehow.

Install the latest CCCP beta. Beta Testing Guide - CCCP
This will probably not work in Windows Media Player on Windows 7, but it will work in CCCP's MPC-HC.
TrueHD support was added 3 months after the current stable CCCP release. -
I read your post after googling the problem. Before I install the beta, how stable is it compared to the 2009 release and will the solution work on a Vista machine? I don't mind using either player so long as one of them gets the job done.

It's pretty much stable. If you get weird behaviours with MPC-HC, install the 2010-05-21 one instead.

Time to give the beta a go then. Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem. MPC-HC wouldn't play the audio, but VLC would. I think I just installed the CCCP and rebooted.
No audio from .mkv file
