    hi there,

i bought McAfee a few weeks back, and when i installed it, it didn't ask me for a cd key or anything ( and there was no cd key coming with it anyways).

But i have a 1 year subscription, and yes the cd is origional not cracked.

So i'm wondering, does that mean i can use the version on a different pc? If not then how does it work exactly?

Most likely the key was on the installation cd, thus you didn't need to actually punch it in.

And you won't be able to install it somewhere else and have it work, because then 2 computers will be using the same key to try and get their updates online. McAfee will see that the same key is trying to get updates from 2 different machines, and it won't work.

I don't think so because it's still only 1 computer requesting the updates. So to McAfee they will see a single license being used by 1 computer.

    moby

    hi guy

you probably bought the retail version and it doesn't need a key >> you just install from the cd, register your email usually and it's good for a years worth of updates

to install again or on a diff pc, use a diff email to register it, usually up to 3

glad you like my profile pic :)
