As the title says no more restore points for me.
It's 2015 last time I checked but windows gives me only restore points from 2012 or 2011.
I only need to get back a couple of weeks ago but not years.
The thing is AdwCleaner deleted some registry keys and windows won't boot anymore.
I hope system restore might fix the problem but I'm afraid my laptop won't work anymore with updates and drivers from 2012.
Can I get more recent restore points?
And why Windows didn't make any in 3 years?
-
If you think AdwCleaner deleted registry keys then maybe it also deleted the ability to add restore points. Can you manually add a restore point now? Guess not if you can't boot. Probably bricked. Get a backup disk of the OS you want and reinstall.
And you did have a backup of your important data on an external disk didn't you?
What OS? -
Cleaning registry happened yesterday so it doesn't explain why Windows didn't make any in 3 years.
I can make a restore point manually in safe mode but how would that help me?
I can make restore points only with the curent date.
Reinstalling would be even harder because I don't know how to install windows
And I actually prefer system restore.
My OS is windows 7 home premium 64bit. I don't even have a cd for it.
If I use a recovery disc I could find more restore points? -
When you go to look at more restore points there are none? Probability is if you tried the old restore points they would be a no go as well. A long shot but maybe the internal clocks date is set wrong and the system thinks it is in 2011, you could check this in bios.
Also Windows will not boot is too generic a response. What does it do, ie stop at loading windows screen, or what? have you tried booting in safe mode? a lot of questions before you just give up. -
It is unmountable boot volume BSoD. It says Starting Windows and then the blue screen appears.
It happened immediately after AdwCleaner asked for reboot.
I saw the log and there were registry keys deleted.
And I've been warned it might happen but I wasn't probably thinking.
I was also thinking about hdd failure but recently I checked and bads were repaired.
I can only think about these deleted keys.
Or some changes in bios but I don't feel comfortable entering there.
I can use safe mode. Without networking.
How can I check the date in bios? -
Just a thought.
Have you checked the free space on your drive ? -
-
I tried using system restore. It took like half an hour then it said finished.
I pressed restart and my laptop said the process was not completed.
Then after reboot I got this new error
c0000135 the program can t start because % hs is missing from your computer. And it said to try reinstalling it.
What I need to reinstall?
And where did the problem come from? -
You'll need the key that is on the sticker on your laptop to activate Windows, but you can get the .iso file from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html. From that file, you can make either an install DVD or USB drive (needs to be 4 GB or more).

As a solution to the error windows asked for Startup Repair and I accidentally agreed)
I had to wash the dishes so I let it run anyway.
After washing dishes I went to see if Startup Repair was done and Windows was just starting.
Luck I guess.
But being in 2012 is awful.
I think I need all updates and drivers lost but Windows Update doesn't open. I click open and nothing happens.
Any thoughts why? -
Sounds like you still have broken stuff in your installation of Windows. If WU starts, but it can't update, check if the date and time settings are correct.
-
Later edit:
I could open windows updates but if I want to install them it says there is nothing to install.
The last one was installed in 2012.
Why there are not updates? -
Where should I check?
At the bottom is the corect date.
Maybe I need to check bios? -
if the normal clock has the correct date and time then the bios should be fine. Some how the clock may have had the wrong date and time and then set a restore to back at that point or it could be the system to create space got rid of some restore points. This could have happened by using diskclean too. Even some software could have detected adware in all the restore points, or optioned them, and eliminated them.
Good thing to hear you are back just immediately make a safe restore point.
No more restore points
