I'm hoping that what I'm trying to accomplish is possible, as I'm pretty persistent.

So, I have my trusty Windows XP installed just the way I like it. I have all my programs and customization options, and to redo this will take ages.

Right now I'm running on an 80GB hard drive, and I have another waiting to be added that is the exact same model. I have Acronis True Image Home, a 250GB external hard drive, and a 2gb usb thumb drive with Acronis' Bootable Rescue Media Builder software installed to it.

With the Clevo m570u, the DVD RW drive is replaced by the additional hard drive, and as of right now, the external DVD burner I've purchased is on back order. So, I'm opting to find a way to migrate my current OS configuration to the RAID 0 array I'm going to create. I did have a few questions I was hoping to get answered before I bounded off and erased the disk when I create the array.

1 - Does Acronis support RAID volumes?
2 - If so, is the driver I need for the array going to be recognized, or will I need another method of supplying it to True Image to restore my backup?
3 - Regardless of the answer to question 2, will the backup be restored correctly onto the RAID 0 array since there is a different controller currently installed? (The controller listed in Device Manager is Intel 82801 GBM/GHM (ICH7-M Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C4)

I'm hoping that Acronis already has driver information for this particular mobile platform and will adjust the controllers accordingly. If anyone is experienced enough in disk management, I'd love a reply that would shed some light onto the matter.

    Thanks.

the answer is a definite maybe

Answering 3 first, you need to install the raid drivers on the existing XP installation before you make the image--windows has to have the driver already on it (even though it is not needed right now in the current configuration) it will never come up.

The real issue here is does your version of Acronis natively support the external usb harddrive drive and the RAID controller.

You did not mention your version of Acronis. The current version will recognize usb drives for most usb controllers and will recognize some raid controllers, but it may not recognize the m570u. For that you would have to contact Acronis to find out.

I have True Image Home 10. From the knowledgebase, it state that Acronis support all storage drivers that XP natively supports, and I can incorporate new ones via the F6 method, or by adding the driver via a BartPE plugin.

Yes, it does in windows--I don't know if the bootable acronis disk does...since that is linux based.

But, I am using Acronis 7, so maybe it no longer works like that. The bartpe plugin sounds intriguing...that was not a part of version 7, so it sounds like smooth sailing
