    I've been using a combination of Norton Systemworks and Zonealarm for years and have never had problems. Admittedly Norton has never been the fastest, but with some tweaking I've found it acceptible. Recently though, Norton Antivirus 2007 was supposed to be redesigned to be lighter on resources, but while I find it uses fewer processes, it's hogging up boot time and I don't think it sits too well with Zonealarm.

    I've only stuck with Systemworks so long because I'm used to it, it's reliable, and it has all the other features I need like Disk Doctor, defragmenting, antivirus, etc. all in one place so I don't have to install a whole bunch of extra programs. I guess that's it's greatest weakest too.

    In any case, I looking to replace Systemworks now. Do people have any suggestions? I'm thinking:

    Norton Antivirus -> Kaspersky (as part of Zonealarm Internet Security)
    Windoctor/Cleansweep (registry and file cleaner) -> CCleaner
    SpeedDisk (defragmenter) -> Diskeeper

    I'm particularly looking for replacements for Disk Doctor or is the standard CHKDSK good enough? Perhaps TuneUp Utitilies may work. Then another question would be whether TuneUp's file and registry cleaning is good enough to not require CCleaner anymore?

    I haven't actually used the Unerase feature and Protected Recycling in Systemworks to undelete files, so I don't think I need a replacement, but it is still good insurance. I'd be willing to take suggestions for alternatives too.

    Thanks

    Those are all good, especially Kaspersky.

    I've been thinking of PerfectDisk too, since I've heard Diskeeper doesn't like to defragment really large files (multiple GBs).

    The three programs which you're considering, are three that I use and like a lot. However, I just use Windows firewall instead of ZoneAlarm and have never had problems. I believe you'll be happy with the changes.

    FWIW, in addition to CCleaner, RegSeeker works well for me.
