Hey,
I just got my Dell XPS M1530 and it is absolutely great, except for the wobbly base.
Anyways I was attempting to format this baby to remove all the bloatware.
Now before the restart to start up the format, I accidently turned off the laptop by holding the power button too long.
When I turned it back on the windows did not shut down properly screen popped up. After getting by this I then proceeded with formatting my laptop, which now runs even more smoothly and faster.
I guess my question is, did I break anything, even though I formatted right after?
Is there any physical or software harm I've done to my computer?
Sorry I'm just a paranoid newbie~
Please educate me ^^

No. You don't have to worry.

Like John B said, you don't have to worry.
Shutting down Windows properly before turning off the power to your computer is important. Not doing so can result in data loss and corruption as files are left only partially written to disk. But just turning off the switch is unlikely to actually harm your hardware.
So you take the small change of damaging the data on your harddrive when you shut down that way. Since you were going to format your computer it doesn't matter at all. It doesn't physically harm your notebook.
