I recently refomatted my HP Laptop with the original OS (Windows XP MCE).
When trying to double a click a song to play on winamp, I get this error, anyone know why and how I could fix it?

The file itself can be bad. Try open it with another media player.
cheers ... -
Right click on an mp3 file, and click on "Open With". Chose Winamp from here, and select "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", and click on OK. You're done, AFAIC. Let me know if this doesn't work.

For some reason, your system thinks that file is itself an executable, and not just a data file that needs to be opened with some other executable. You might want to check to see what the file extension ".mp3" has been associated with on your system - particularly in case you've got some malware hiding in there. Once you've done that, if that extension isn't associated with Winamp, you should follow Silas' instructions to associate that file type with Winamp.

Thanks for all the help.
Changing from "archive' to "read only" did the trick! -
It's quite likely that the mp3 file was associated with a virus or something that was cleaned off afterwards. That's the only time I've seen those kinds of errors. Make sure you do a scan with an updated AV program.
