    Hey folks,

needed to set up a Lenovo L440 after HDD failure. Freshly installed Win 8, upgraded to 8.1. Installed missing drivers, Avira and Chrome, A fresh new installed. And then I got the problem that I can't access Google or Bing, the search engine ixquick can be reached for example , also any other webpage. But not google or bing :( . The error code is the following: "ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED".
Did a complete Scan in Safe mode with Avira and Malwarebytes, nothing. The problem persists when using IE.
I really don't get it, anybody an idea how to fix this?
    Thx, banjo

In IE try putting proxy detection in auto. I had something similar. That fixed it for me.

I tried changing the auto config setting, but nothing works. There is some ip address inserted which I tried to change as well, but it always changes back.

Sorry to ask you this, but did you restart IE after changing proxy settings.

Yes, I tried restarting IE as well as the tlaptop. Seems like something is blocking any changes.
