Here's the problem. I leave about 10 torrents running over night. After I wake up, my system is frozen, and all the the files in utorrent have error messages saying "not enough system resources". Is utorrent or one of my other programs I leave running slowly using up all of my RAM until it crashes? I use XP btw.

how much ram do you have?
Mine is eating up ram as well. I use Windows 7, which manages resources better, so I don't have any crashes. But I only have 4 torrents running. 10 can eat up a lot of memory.

I have 3 GB at the moment. About 54 processes running. I make sure to close FF though, since that can eat up a good bit by itself. Along with the resources error, there's the fact that I think my Window Blinds crashes. The taskbar at the bottom disappears, it's the theme crashing. I wonder if that's what's causing this, and not my *lack* of resources.

54 processes is a lot in XP. How much RAM/processing is being used before you open uTorrent?

Edit: Somehow I missed that bit about the custom themes and software. I'm inclined to agree with Jack & you that it is a likely cause.

I have utorrent open all the time downloading/seeeding 50+ torrents on my slow netbook with 1GB ram. I don't see any abnormal things yet.

It's probably windows blind or the modded uxtheme.dll file that's causing the problem.

Sorry to waste your time. After thinking about it, I decided that it HAS to be Window Blinds causing this. 54 processes isn't really that bad, and 3 GB of RAM is plenty for it, I feel. Everything is pretty snappy as is, and every time I see this error, it coincides with the whole system crashing due to WB. Makes sense to me.

The only thing I want to know is, why does WB crash after so long? Why does this only happen after hours and hours of sitting there?

Well... WB use a modded UXtheme.dll file to patch the OS in order to load special/custom themes to the OS. Of course, this patch isn't perfect and after a while, the system crashes for no apparent reason.

I used to use WB.. but then I use Windows 7 RC. THere's no more need for WB.

BTW.. you're the first girl that I know that download things via torrents. LOL.

My torrent notebook only has like 512mb and it never crashes even after left on for weeks. Definitely one of your programs.
