NHC can't change the cpu speed after installing the SP1(I also googled it,and find more people talking about that),but now that I can't use NHC to control my cpu, what is the best program out to put in place of NHC?My laptop is a acer,so I will not install the crap power management app from acer.![]()

Vista's advanced power options. What CPU settings do you want to control/limit/change?
-
GamerBR,
NHC wasn't able to do it before either. Dynamic switching wasn't compatible with Vista (you can read about it on the german NHC forums). NHC is pretty much dead, but why do you even bother. You can set up the power management features in Vista within 5 minutes and never look at it again. I have 2 power plans and that's it.
I was a great advocate of NHC because it solved my HDD clicking sound problem, but after I switched to Vista x64, the sound is gone and everything else is fine too. Setting up 2 power plans + options isn't rocket science. -
I'm running NHC with vista SP1 RC no problem? The dynamic switching doesn't work, but I don't care about it anyway. I only use NHC to underclock my CPU from 1900mhz to 800mhz, to save battery life. And I'm going to give undervolting a go as well, using NHC.

you installed a completely separate app to do something that Vista does natively?
you are aware that Windows has had excellent built-in CPU throttling features since pre-Vista, right? -
But most Processors run stable at much lower Vcores (e.g. mine at 1600MHz with just 0,95V compared to 1,25V stock), so why wasting your energy, money and battery life, if you can save each by undervolting your CPU?
Besides of this, there are some other tweaks to power-management, RMCOLOCK can do.
So @GamerBR: use RMCLock. -
yeah, I know that Vista power management works okay-ish, but I'm getting like 30min more from my battery when running NHC. And like Riemen said, Vista doesn't undervolt your CPU.
Now that NHC doesn't work with Vista SP1,which power management app should I use?
