All the 180.XX and the 190.XX drivers have an issue with Windows 7 RC X64 and my 8400M GT card. I cannot change the "Flat panel scaling" in the Nvidia control panel. After I change, and hit enter, it reverts back to "Use my display's built in scaling".
The same drivers work fine with 32-bit Vista.

Because of this scaling issue (I guess), low resolution full screen videos look pixelated in VLC, Real player, etc in Windows 7. WMP 12 just plays them fine. But I need to use other players, when the codec pack (shark007) I am using doesn't work as expected with WMP 12. VLC in Vista 32-bit plays the same video fine.

Has anyone experienced this and has a solution? (better codec pack or better player?)
I googled about the same issue (many have this) and can't find any possible answer.

I just looked on mine and all scaling options in the NVidia control panel are greyed out.

It's set to "Use my display's built-in scaling" and cannot be changed.

Works fine here. Using 186.03 drivers 64-bit.

Shark007 is the best codec pack you can get. VLC plays everything but is not the best video player and converter.
If you have installed Shark007 64-bit codec back, you need to open the codec configuration panel (as real admin) and enable Windows Media Player 12 64-bit. You can have both 32 and 64-bit codec pack installed.
To install 64bit codec pack you need a 64-bit OS, of course. Here my videos are playing perfect.

Lower your desktop's resolution to say 1024x768 and then you can set the scaling options and then put it back to native.

Still the videos are pixelated in VLC player.

That's to do with the video render and not with flat panel scaling. I don't know the solution for VLC.. I use Media Player Classic Homecinema with EVR Custom enderer and have experienced no problems so far.

WMP uses the EVR renderer as well.

Are you sure it's just not your video that is badly compressed?

Yes I am sure because the same video plays fine full screen in WMP 12. Sometimes I use VLC, for instance, when I tried to play a rmvb file in WMP 12 with the Shark007 codec pack in Win 7 X64 there was no audio and the video was fine. But in VLC there was audio, and the full screen video was pixelated.
