O&O ShutUp10 won't block updates, the settings keeps on changing and enables Windows Update.

Anyone else having this problem? It started yesterday for me.

Edit: I think it's happening because I'm running 1703, I happened again today. O&O ShutUp settings keeps on getting disabled.

It's just one computer so I don't want to jump to conclusions, just curious if anyone else have seen this.

Apologies for the title, a bit misleading.. :D

Still working here as well. I was the one who messed up and thought O&O was the problem. Triple check(means restart 3 times) your settings every time you open the program and make sure all of the settings are sticking.

Yeah, it's been like that for ages now, and it's always one single button that flips back: one of the telemetry buttons.

It happened to me when I updated the software. When I deleted the old version ang replaced with a new one and then opened the new version I didn't double check or triple check the settings. Yes windows update telemetry flipped back..

It's not a bad idea to have two tools checking the status of Windows Update enablement, I know I used a couple of tools to ward off Windows 10 Upgrade being forced by Microsoft for many months. One tool would monitor the status and warn me when it was changed back to allowing Windows 10 upgrades, and another feature disabled this from being able to be used by Microsoft to actually follow through with the download and upgrade, then I could go in there and re-disable Windows 10 Upgrade bits once again.

So I wouldn't rule out using more than one tool to verify Windows Updates are disabled, if one fails the other can warn you before it's too late and you are saddled with a forced update and things are broken all over again.

You can always restore from a backup to the before Windows Update state, but that takes time, time you can save by using more than one tool to keep Microsoft in check. :)

I just started using 10 and O&O four days ago. Yesterday when I opened O&O it notified me that settings had changed due to an update, and asked if I wanted to revert to prior settings, which I did. It would be better if the program kept the settings, and asked if you wanted to let MS Update change them.

Unless all of this is a bug that requires the three restart fix posted earlier.

It will be interesting what the upcoming version of Spybot Beacon will offer.

For OP or others. Read http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-10.762434/page-488#post-10692244

    Ask Woody
So how DO you block the upgrade to Win10 1709

Windows Update in Windows 10 is a lost cause without intervention

some steps are obligatory to keep the current version:
    – set connection to metered
    – set Automatic Update policy to disabled or notification
    – disable UpdateOrchestrator and WindowsUpdate schedule tasks
    – use wushowhide.diagcab or WUMT to check for updates and hide the upgrader-updates

The program can't stop anyone or anything from changing the settings, I don't think it works that way.

This alone stopped the upgrade, so far. ;)

    Tusen takk!

It seems that you all have problem with Build 1703 and now 1607, but check out my previous post #15. Have you tried to disable automatic maintenance and see if this can change this behavior... How to disable Automatic Maintenance in Windows 10

Use Program and Features or CCleaner and go to Programs section and you'll see OS Remediation service with some KB artcicle number that bypass our settings. Uninstall that and all will be fine.

The Beta ended for Spybot Anti-Beacon, last mention said it would be available first week of March, with no public or forum message since then.

IDK if the delay is due to a "surprise" Windows 10 update conflict or what...it could be related to the new problems caused by Windows 10 to O&O as well, with settings reset by Windows 10 randomly. It looks like the new version does static settings, but maybe with these random reset's of settings by Windows 10 they need to develop an active service to watchdog the settings constantly - just a guess.

"The test program is now closed, and the team is fixing a few bugs that were identified. Due to the small number of issues, we are confident that the finished product should be released by the first week of March..."

Here's a view of the new interface from Mid-Jan 2018:

The interface and features look great. I guess I'll drop them an email and ask when the Beta will become final and public, and what there update policy will be.

Love the fact that the company is in Ireland (a beautiful country), and that the speaker has a lovely Irish accent. Is it true that the head engineer is one of the Little People?

better yet, use a combination of WUB (windows update blocker) + WUMT (windows update minitool) by getting the WUMT Wrapper Script pack from either Majorgeeks or Softpedia.
