This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Oem Vs Retail

    Theere are some limitations for OEM versions:
    1. You can only use it in the system it was first installed in - meaning you cannot transfer it to a new system even if you delete the old.
    2. No support from MS.
    3. You wont get the retail packaging.

    If you buy a Vista upgrade disc then you cannot technically do a clean install. There are ways around this as described here. But you would be better off purchasing a OEM copy of Vista ultimate and dual boot it.
